My name is Bjørn Setsaas, I own and have ran Brekkeseter since 1995. The first years I ran it together with Kari Haugrud. I am born and raised in Trondheim and come from a background as leading private businesses.
In 1995 we decided to put all our effort into our great passion for the outdoors, experiences, good food and good wine. – I bought Brekkeseter the same year.
We decided that Brekkeseter shouldn’t be a traditional hotel. Instead we wanted a new group of travelers, who had high expectations to dining, accommodation and experiences. The hotel yard got closed for bus and car traffic and the gravel road was replaced with grass and the hotel became non-smoking. We stopped serving lunch since our guests should enjoy the food in the nature during day, and in the evening there should be fire in the fireplace, good food and good atmosphere.
One of Norways most attractive destinations
Since the start in 1995 we have put all effort into making Brekkeseter one of Norway’s most attractive destinations.
The focus on quality and service through many years was awarded with the price ” Tripadvisor Travelers Choice Award” in 2013 for Norway’s best destination in category service.
After a while the economy have allowed us to renovate all buildings. We have added 14 old log houses from Gudbrandsdalen, Folldalen, Østerdalen and Rennebu. The hotel have a modern spa area as well. In 2011 we both took chef exam to raise the food and wine standards.
We welcome you at Brekkeseter all year.
